Macron Takes Advantage of Explosion to “Conquer Lebanon”
All relevant events on the international stage have some geopolitical effects. Terrorist attacks, natural catastrophes, accidents and other tragedies also have implications for the power game between nations. In fact, any atypical event can completely change the way of relations between states and generate major political, economic and diplomatic crises. The global pandemic of the new coronavirus itself is an example of how major tragedies can influence geopolitics and international relations. Now, with the recent explosion in Lebanon, we have a new example that tragedies can bring profound political and geopolitical changes.

The Beirut Blast. “An Understanding of the Geopolitical Forces at Work”
Four days after the Beirut Blast of 4th August 2020, the Lebanese president, Michel Aoun, has attempted to explain what caused the largest explosion since the end of the Second World War. He attributes it to either the accidental ignition of 2750 tons of Ammonium Nitrate (AN) stored in a warehouse at Beirut port or a planned attack by some external entity. There is maybe a nexus between the two causes.

Hiroshima Denial is Terror
Those who deny history, or who are oblivious, are apt to repeat it. That is the frightening, perhaps most disturbing aspect of the 75th anniversary this week of the American atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

India isn’t Singapore. It is more like Iran.
The news report in the Tehran Times today that Iran and the Russia-led Iran Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will set up three more working groups on the expansion of trade ties between the two sides should not come as surprise — except to those Indian analysts who visualise Persian Gulf politics with naïveté as a binary between Shia Iran and Sunni Arab states. The report highlights Iran’s Eurasian integration. What does it entail?

New cold war will not stop US decline
Why has the US attitude toward China changed so profoundly? The origins lie in the 2008 financial crisis. The relatively stable and benign period of US-China relations between 1972 and 2016 was underpinned by two American assumptions. First, China would never pose a threat to the US` global economic dominance; and second, China`s rise would become unsustainable unless it adopted a Western-style political system. Neither of these things happened. On the contrary, the financial crisis took place in the US, not in China, and China`s political system has proved highly successful and sustainable. The 2008 crisis led to the undermining of support in the American governing elite for its previous policy toward China. A growing mood of hegemonic angst concerning China took hold in the US.

The Vaccine Race Is The Next Phase Of The COVID World Order
The head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) warned last week that the world is at risk of being further divided by the forthcoming COVID-19 vaccines that leading Great Powers are expected to publicly unveil in the coming future, which would make the vaccine race the next phase of the COVID World Order that`s quickly changing life as everyone knows it, including International Relations.

Our Planet Missed Opportunity to Fight side-by-side against the Pandemic!
It is time to stop irresponsible finger-pointing. All over the world, as this essay is being written, well over 17 million COVID-19 cases have been reported, and 676,000 people died. And instead of concentrating on serious research, trying to save human lives and attempting to stop the global calamity, ‘residents’ of the White House are spending all the energy on their own political survival, as well as on the survival of the regime.

Turkey’s Erdogan: From Haga Sophia to the Shores of Tripoli and Beyond
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has clearly decided to launch an offensive on multiple fronts, taking advantage of what he clearly perceives as a geopolitical vacuum. From his recent call to Islamic prayer at the Haga Sophia in Istanbul, to his breaking of the arms embargo to back the Tripoli regime against the advance of General Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan National Army in the East, from continuing military presence inside Syria to refusal to stop drilling for oil and gas in waters off Cyprus, as well as actions in Africa, Erdogan is clearly in an aggressive mode. Is there a larger strategy behind all this, far more than as a diversion from domestic Turkish economic problems?

China’s Vision in a Post-COVID World
On 13 July an international newscast reported that the European Commission will discuss as a priority on how the EU should react to China’s national security law for Hong Kong, a sovereign decision taken by Beijing to protect the citizens of the Chinese territory, Hong Kong, from western instigated riots and acts of terror. This is apparently an issue close to the heart of the German Foreign Minister, Heiko Maas, as he raised the issue as a priority for the EC to be discussed. Can you imagine! The audacity of the EC to even suggest debating on what should be the reaction of Europe on an entirely internal affair of Sovereign China?

China is to stay in Latin America and US has no choice but to acknowledge this
China has been increasing its soft power in Latin America since it began heavily investing in the region since the mid-2000s. The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has taken an ineffective and aggressive approach to try and counter Beijing in Latin America, a region that Washington calls its “own backyard.” Relations between China and Latin American countries are flourishing, but at the same time they face new challenges as the region deals with several crises. Meanwhile, the influential Brookings Institute think tank has concluded that the U.S. is losing its influence in the region.

India shouldn’t align with Five Eyes
Against the backdrop of border tensions in Ladakh, the Indian media narratives have ascribed to our foreign-policy lurch toward the Quad and the overall tilt to the US, the breakdown of mutual trust in India-China relations. Chinese statements have repeatedly expressed regret that their expectations out of the consensus reached at the leadership level (in Wuhan and Chennai Connect) have been belied — that neither side would regard the other as rival.

UK Blinks in China Face-Off
The much-touted tough measures promised by the British government against China over alleged human rights violations turned out to be a damp squib. No doubt a sudden reality-check of the British economy’s dependence on China had a sobering effect on Downing Street’s reckless antagonism towards Beijing.

U.S. - China Spat Over Quarantine And Consulates Continues
The U.S. closed down the Chinese consulate in Houston in revenge for Chinese demands that diplomats coming from abroad to China undergo Covid-19 testing and quarantine. No U.S. media I have read has yet confirmed that fact which Moon of Alabama was first to report: The unmentioned reason for the State Department`s move is a squabble over virus testing and quarantining of U.S. diplomats who are supposed to return to China. ... The squabble continues. The U.S. diplomats have not returned and the consulate in Wuhan has still not reopened. The U.S. order to close the Chinese consulate in Houston is obviously an attempt to press China into lifting its testing and quarantine demands for U.S. diplomats.

Russia’s Political Stability Ensured While the West Sinks
Despite what American and European commentators may think, there really is a deep desire among people to vote for their own sovereignty. And that impulse was on full display last week with the announcement of the results of Russia’s public vote to approve the changes to its constitution. The final tally put the vote at 78% in favor with a 65% voter turnout for the referendum. These are the most sweeping changes to Russia’s constitution since it was ratified back in 1993, which vested the President with immense power.

Stay Out of the Regime Change Business
When reports appeared that Venezuelan forces captured two American mercenaries leading an armed incursion into Caracas to overthrow the Maduro government last month, images of Tom Clancy novels, Cold War spies, and covert action instantly came to mind. However, rather than living up to the reputation of fictional master spies like Jack Ryan, the so-called “Bay of Piglets” failed catastrophically. While the Venezuelan opposition, government, and the American private military contactor Silvercorp pointed fingers, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo assured the world that the United States had no direct role in this operation. However, soon after, President Donald Trump asserted in a press briefing that if the United States had played a direct role, it would have been more Jack Ryan than the failure in Caracas. But is that actually the case?

Turmoil at Home, Turmoil Abroad: Israel and the U.S. Escalate Their War Against Iran
As the combined impact of the corona virus and the wholesale destruction of America’s history and culture, or at least the part of it that is white, continues, it is nice to see that other nations are getting into the game that will lead to the de facto elimination of western civilization. No one is yet quite up the U.S. level of senseless destruction and looting by the heroes of Black Lives Matter (BLM) and Antifa, but in Britain mobs are beating policemen, statues including that of Winston Churchill are being attacked and the Cenotaph commemorating the country’s war dead has been vandalized.

Putin had a dream to reset the world order
Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered a speech at Yad Vashem Holocaust memorial center, Jerusalem, January 23, 2020, to mark 75 years since the liberation of Auschwitz. Moscow has a way of signalling to the White House on critical issues from time to time through public statements calibrated to catch President Trump’s attention. It happens usually on Sundays such as on July 11 when the Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov transmitted a complicated signal which pointedly called attention to the growing despondency in Moscow that the Russian-American relationship lies in tatters.

Hoisted with their own petard: Ukraine’s influence operations against Europe – Part 2
Secret operations of influence Ukrainian conducted autonomously or under the direction of еру Western advisors make a profound interest for investigators. The crash of Malaysian Boeing-777 over Donbass can be called the biggest and possibly the most successful and cynical campaign of Ukrainian and British special services, launched to influence the international community and leaders of foreign countries. I described in details the long and careful process of preparations to this provocation in my documentary. The authorities left the air space above the conflict zone opened on purpose, despite the use of their own combat aviation in the Donbass and an obvious threat to civilian airplanes.

Trump Reaps the Whirlwind With China/Iran Mega Deal
Trump, under the advice of people like John Bolton, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) has pursued a maximum pressure campaign against Iran in the hopes of the regime either crumbling or suing for peace. Trump was warned by both Chinese Premier Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin that Iran would ‘rather eat dirt’ than submit to him on nuclear weapons, support for Hezbollah, Iraq and President Bashar al-Assad in Syria.

The leaked document is clearly presented as a “plan of action” to oust Lopez Obrador. American exceptionalism is no longer acceptable
Iran has issued an arrest warrant for US President Donald Trump and dozens of others it believes carried out the drone strike that killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani in January. The Iranian prosecutor was reported as saying that Iran requested an Interpol “red notice” be put out for Trump and 36 others, which represents the highest-level arrest request issued by Interpol. The move will no doubt be dismissed in Washington, despite the fact that the actions by the US in January on Iraqi soil had all the appearance of an extrajudicial assassination of a senior government official.

RAY McGOVERN: US-Russia Ties, from Heyday to MayDay
Russian hopes dashed: Whatever hopes Russian President Vladimir Putin may have had for a more workable relationship with the Trump administration have been “trumpled,” so to speak. This came through loudly and clearly in acerbic remarks by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov in an interview Friday with The National Interest. Ryabkov lamented the sad state of Russia-U.S. relations, while pointing, not very subtly, to China as Russia’s ace in the hole. He was simply acknowledging that what the Soviets used to call “the correlation of forces” has changed markedly, and strongly implied that the U.S. should draw the appropriate conclusions. No amateur diplomat, Ryabkov used unusually sharp, almost certainly pre-authorized, words to drive home his message

French spies detained in Turkey
The Turkish police arrested four members of a cell spying for France. According to the police, the spy cell had been operating in Turkey since 2013. It was headed by Metin Özdemir, a former Turkish military, who underwent intelligence training in France and was attached to the French Consulate General in Istanbul. He was in charge of overseeing the Turkish far right and associations linked to Fettullah Gülen (banned after the 2015 coup). The spies were in possession of fake MIT (Turkish Secret Service) cards and reported to two DGSE (French Secret Service) officers. They received a salary of 600 euros per month.

The cause of tension between China and India
Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said: “positive consensus” on resolving the latest border issue was achieved following “effective communication” through diplomatic and military channels. New Delhi said the two countries had agreed to “peacefully resolve” the border flare-up after a high-level meeting between army commanders. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese leader Xi Jinping had sought to ease the tensions at summits over the past two years when they agreed to boost border communications between their militaries.

America`s Supernational Sovereignty Iran and Syria again on the receiving end of sanctions
One of the most disturbing aspects of American foreign policy since 9/11 has been the assumption that decisions made by the United States are binding on the rest of the world, best exemplified by President George W. Bush’s warning that “there was a new sheriff in town.” Apart from time of war, no other nation has ever sought to prevent other nations from trading with each other, nor has any government sought to punish foreigners using sanctions with the cynical arrogance demonstrated by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

MH17 – If the facts contradict a useful lie, never mind the facts!
The trial before The Hague District Court in the framework of the investigation into the crash of flight MH17 over the Donbass continued on Monday after a break. The main news was the epic file of the Americans. Those, instead of data from satellites, provided the court on the MH17 in the Netherlands with a paper with text that contains a description of these photos. The photos themselves are secret, they will not be published. In fact, this is an admission that the information available to the Americans contradicts the official version of the investigation.

He’s also the honorary chairman of Russia’s Presidium of the Council on Foreign and Defense Policy. What would happen to Ukraine and the Baltic States after the US collapse
The US-controlled countries of Eastern Europe, the Baltic States, Ukraine and a number of Middle Eastern countries expect great difficulties and a problematic future. This was declared by Israeli military and political analyst Yakov Kedmy on Iton-TV. The expert stressed that due to America’s huge economic problems, the hopes of these countries for the “new Marshall Plan” will not be fulfilled under any circumstances. “All international relations will change depending on the new role, abilities and desires of the USA. After World War II, Americans came with great opportunities, and there was a Marshall plan. Today, Americans are in a worse position. No money – where will they get it from?” asked Kedmy.

Trump’s China policy at a cul-de-sac
This past week has been a catastrophic seven days that shook America. Some of the debris may have inevitably fallen on President Donald Trump too. Most important, the Trump administration has lost the plot on China. The tragic Memorial Day murder of an African-American George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minnesota highlights that as much as racial violence and the targeting of non-whites in incidents of police violence signals the surge of the most backward and reactionary layers of American society, the latent class oppression under the Trump presidency lies exposed.
