It was always a paradox: John Stuart Mill, in his seminal (1859), On Liberty, never doubted that a universal civilisation, grounded in liberal values, was the eventual destination of all of humankind. He looked forward to an ‘Exact Science of Human Nature’, which would formulate laws of psychology and society as precise and universal as those of the physical sciences. Yet, not only did that science never emerge, in today’s world, such social ‘laws’ are taken as strictly (western) cultural constructs, rather than as laws or science.

Observed from outer space, the United States is in a revolutionary turmoil. Fires are burning, thousands of people are confronting police and other security forces. There are barricades, banners, posters, and there is rage. Rage is well justified. Grievances run deep, through the veins of a confused and socially insecure population, in both cities and the countryside. Minorities feel and actually are oppressed. Indeed they have been disgracefully oppressed, since the birth of the country, over two centuries ago (see my latest report carried by this magazine). There are some correct words uttered and written; many appropriate sentiments are expressed. And yet, and yet… It looks like a revolution, it feels like a revolution, but it is not a revolution. It definitely is not! Why?

After 100 days, we are in a position for some preliminary analysis of the performance of locked down states versus those that did not lock down. AIER has already published the evidence that lockdown states had higher rates of unemployment.

The Minneapolis City Council on Friday unanimously approved a measure to abolish the city’s police department — a radical proposal amid nationwide efforts by activists to defund local law enforcement agencies. The 12-0 vote will not automatically dismantle the department, but is a first step in a long legislative process that will ultimately need popular support by city residents in a November election.

I have to say that I am amazed that so many folks on the Left seem to think that the current riots in the USA are a spontaneous rebellion against police violence, systemic racism, and history of persecution and exploitation of Blacks and Indians, etc. As for the violence, looting and riots – they are either excused as a result of some kind of righteous wrath or blamed on “infiltrators”. In my previous article I tried to show how the Democrats and the US media tried to instrumentalize these riots and to use them against Trump’s bid for reelection. I accompanied the article with a carefully staged photo-op of US Democrats “taking a knee” in solidarity (as if the leaders of the Democratic Party gave a hoot about Blacks or poor US Americans!). What I did not mention was how the US (and even trans-national) corporate world backed these riots to the hilt. Here are just a few examples of this

As America separates into two distinct substances – one nation dissolving into two – we should perhaps pay more attention to the psychology underlying this segmentation, and not just to its ‘politics’. Clearly, the latter is vital to understanding the U.S. Furthermore, these two U.S. psychic states of mind are playing out across the Middle East and beyond – not so much in a strategic way, but as the projection of inner psyche. This projection seeks to demonstrate its moral validation externally, in a way that cannot be done internally – for the balance of forces domestically is such that neither party can, as they would like, force the submission of the ‘other’ to their worldview; neither can prevail decisively.

By Michael Brenner- We all are familiar with that hoary saying: “There is nothing new under the sun.” It’s all been seen before – so we are told. Certainly true as regards human behavior if not innovative technology. Yet, it is hard to deny that we are encountering things these days that seem to have no precedent or historical analog. American politics – and public life generally – is rife with the bizarre and the grotesque which would defy the imagination of a Margaret Mead or other venerable anthropologists from an earlier age. The odd feature of this singular situation is that we have come to accept as (more or less) normal persons and actions that would have struck everyone as patho-normal just a few decades ago. Habituation and acculturation seem to have no limits. The past few weeks of Covid-19/George Floyd protests/economic collapse have offered a plethora of striking examples.

In the US, the pivotal event is a Trump rebound. At Tulsa, Okla he began to regain lost ground. The situation was not looking good for him. Twitter again trolled Trump by flagging his joking presentation of the Fake News Media. The Supreme Court rejected two of his initiatives, offering additional protection to LGBT identifying people and to young illegal immigrants in regard to DACA. The Army demonstrated its hostility to Trump, apologising for a photo-op with their Commander-in-Chief. The Secret Services leaked the President’s whereabouts. More and more officials declared their allegiance to the New World Order by kneeling to it rather than to God.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) this week introduced a bicameral bill meant to improve reporting, investigation and, ultimately, prevention of civilian casualties. On Wednesday, Khanna introduced the Protection of Civilians In Military Operations Act, which he said will "ensure that the Pentagon provides accurate data not only on civilians killed in direct US military operations, but also on civilians killed by US partner forces, such as the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen." "This bill also takes the essential step of requiring the Pentagon to establish a publicly accessible database of its investigations into civilian casualties," he added. "Maximizing transparency will prevent further loss of life. On Thursday, Warren, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, introduced the bill in the Senate. The former Democratic presidential candidate said that protecting civilians was not only "a national security priority" but also a "moral and ethical imperative."

Joe Biden keeps trying to out-warmonger Donald Trump, and by Joe Biden I of course mean the team of handlers who are animating the dementia-ravaged corpse of the Biden campaign like a ventriloquist operating a wooden dummy. Nixon 68 is back with a vengeance, with President Trump placing himself as the guarantor/enforcer of Law & Order. That slogan guaranteed Nixon’s election, and was coined by Kevin Phillips, then an expert in “ethnic voting patterns”. Philips makes for a very interesting case. In 1999, he became the author of a seminal book: The Cousins’ Wars: Religion, Politics, and the Triumph of Anglo-America, where he tracks how a “small Tudor kingdom” ended up establishing global hegemony. The division of the English-speaking community into two great powers – “one aristocratic, ‘chosen’ and imperial; and one democratic, ‘chosen’ and manifest destiny-driven”, as Philips correctly establishes – was accomplished by, what else, a war triptych: the English Civil War, the American revolution and the U.S. Civil War.

A career warmonger becomes the darling of limousine liberals just because he’s ridiculing the president of the United States. The current, convoluted spectacle in the hallowed halls of Empire is worthy of the most demented WWE scripts – as everything about Donald Trump has to be understood as a pile-up of professional wrestling plots. Here we have former national security advisor John Bolton playing The Undertaker with Trump trying to cast himself as The Rock. In earlier articles, I noted that America has been skirting the precarious cliff-edge of ancient antagonisms, dating back to the Civil War – Red versus Blue. The two irreconcilable visions of American life: on the one side, the ‘Federalists’, who partly have morphed into cosmopolitan ‘Sorosites’, and claim the moral high ground on matters of life; and on the other, a tradition of state co-sovereignty, dating back to the 1871 (the Articles of Confederacy). That divide remains. It is – as it has long been – aside from the FDR era, an overarching frame. Yet, to further roil and complicate an already heady complexity it seems now, that further ‘wars’ are unfolding.

The self-inflicted cultural defenestration of what passes for Western Civilization in the United States continues apace. As George Orwell described the process in 1984 “Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present…”

Donald Trump’s myriad of failures during the COVID-19 pandemic has done much to shield Joe Biden from criticism. In fact, Joe Biden has largely been missing from public sphere throughout the crisis and for good reason. Biden needs to promote an image of “stability” to differentiate himself from Trumpian chaos but often stumbles in his attempt to do so. The corporate media and Democratic Party loyalists have historically dismissed Biden’s stumbles as “gaffes” or harmless mistakes. His latest mistake, however, says something much more about Biden than Democrats want to admit. Joe Biden is a racist. Not only is he a racist, but he is also a long-standing servant of the white supremacist and imperialist ruling class and thus an existential threat to the future of humanity.

The marriage of post-Lockdown and George Floyd protests has nurtured a rough beast that is still immune to any form of civilized debate in the U.S.: the Seattle Commune. So what really is the Capital Hill Autonomous Zone cum People’s Republic all about? Are the communards mere useful idiots? Is this a refined Occupy Wall Street experiment? Could it survive, logistically, and be replicated in NYC, L.A. and D.C.? An outraged President Trump has described it as a plot by “domestic terrorists” in a city “run by radical left Democrats”. He called for “LAW & ORDER” (in caps, according to his Tweetology). Shades of Syria in Seattle are visibly discernable. Under this scenario, the Commune is a remixed Idlib fighting “regime counter-insurgency outposts” (in communard terminology).

Antifa`s declaration of the so-called "Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone" (CHAZ) in a six-block area of Seattle is a recipe for civil war since it pushes the US closer to the brink of a lethal confrontation between this terrorist group and the country`s security services, one which is almost certain to lead to massive "collateral damage" to the people who are volunteering themselves as de-facto "human shields" to protect the insurrectionists for ideological reasons, thus likely intensifying the ongoing Hybrid War of Terror on America beyond the point of no return.

Tony Cartalucci - There is no doubt that colonialism and racism sit at the root of America’s domestic problems. The push to dominate others abroad is directly linked to the belief that those who are different at home should also be dominated. Even today, racism is still institutionalized.

Youths are chattering; people moving aimlessly. It still has not solidified into purpose, yet the raw tenseness of the coming conflict hangs, as palpably as does the smoke in the air. It is evident – there will be violence today. No, this is not America. This is the flashpoint crossroad between the radical Jewish settler outpost of Beit El in the West Bank, and its interface with the Palestinian town of Ramallah. Between the two, the Israeli army are ranged, awaiting the hostilities to commence. Tom Luongo - When Gil Scott-Heron released the iconic song it was a cry for racial justice. But it was far deeper than that. Because Scott-Heron spoke the truth that media was subordinate to power. That’s why he knew the revolution he spoke of would never be on television, the most powerful form of media in the world at the time. Controlled by very few because technology had not transformed communication, corporate media crafted whatever narratives it and those it was subordinate to wanted. And those narratives are always sick, divisive and foremost fake. Today social media companies are supposed to act as democratized distribution platforms for images, thoughts, and information from one end of the world to the other. And those in power now realize just how hard it is to maintain narratives in a world where they can be debunked in real time by millions of people.

The mass protests raging across the United States over the police killing of yet another African-American man have had the salutary effect of exposing Washington’s rank hypocrisy in international relations. In particular, before the gruesome death of George Floyd at the hands of police officers on May 25, President Donald Trump and Congressional lawmakers were building a provocative campaign of vilification against China. That campaign was related to groundless claims that Beijing had engaged in an alleged cover-up of the coronavirus pandemic. U.S. efforts to undermine China were given added impetus after Beijing announced plans last month to apply a new security law in the semi-autonomous city state of Hong Kong.

More than two centuries of lies are now getting exposed. Bizarre tales about freedom and democracy are collapsing like houses of cards. One man’s death triggers an avalanche of rage in those who for years, decades and centuries, have been humiliated, ruined, and exterminated. It always happens just like this throughout the history of humankind – one single death, one single “last drop”, an occurrence that triggers an entire chain of events, and suddenly nothing is the same, anymore. Nothing can be the same. What seemed to be unimaginable just yesterday, becomes “the new normal” literally overnight.

Last night at times violent protests took place in some 30 U.S. cities. The escalation of the protests is not being driven by people of color whose grievance about systemic police brutality and institutionalized racism is driving the original, and in most cases peaceful protests. For example, when I told the truth that Russiagate was a hoax, which it has proved to be, an anonymous website, possibly a CIA or NATO operation called “PropOrNot,” included this website among its fake list of 200 “Russian agents/dupes.” The Washington Post, a believed long-time CIA asset, hyped the PropOrNot revelation as if it were the truth. Before Russiagate, the former national security advisor was an operative for Turkey, tilting foreign policy against the Kurds. Former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn is best known for his connection to the Russiagate investigation. Lost in that hubbub, however, was Flynn’s slimy role as a lobbyist for Turkey. A Turkish businessman paid Flynn $530,000 in 2016 to push pro-Turkey, anti-Kurd policies in hopes of influencing the Trump Administration. The American public has mostly forgotten about Flynn’s Turkey connections, says Steven A. Cook, senior fellow for Middle East and Africa Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations in Washington, D.C. "There’s more going on with Turkey than people may realize," Cook tells me. Flynn’s money-driven opportunism is just one example of the operations of Washington’s foreign policy lobbyists. Add in the fact that the pandemic to end all pandemics, the 1918 “Spanish flu” (that may actually have originated in the United States), killed at least 50 million people on this planet before being forgotten in the catastrophic Great Depression and, until recently, essentially dropped from history.

George W Bush is in the news again today, and once again it’s not for the only legitimate reason that he should ever be in the news, namely a war crimes tribunal. No, it’s because his voice was used in a cutesy feel-good video about unity during the Covid-19 pandemic. “Let us remember how small our differences are in the face of this shared threat,” Bush is heard saying. “We are not partisan combatants. We are human beings, equally vulnerable and equally wonderful in the sight of God.”

Most of the United States is still under lockdown, but why? What is the purpose of the policy? We’ve had the “flatten the curve” meme pounded into our brains for so long, that most people think it’s the objective of the policy, but is it? Flattening the curve is a worthy goal, but preventing the health care system from being overwhelmed should not be our highest priority. True, it is critical, I don’t dispute that, I just think there are other goals that are more important.

We’re heading to the other side of the mirror, to that area between fabricated truth and the lies that lie hidden. Spoiler alert! We begin with the inexplicable and a thinly veiled accusation. It is possible and perhaps very likely, even extremely likely, that information about the real nature of COVID 19 and how it kills is being withheld because the truth destroys the “China did it” narrative the White House is pushing to cover its potential complicity. We have identified a broad program of censorship of information about COVID 19 that attacks the idea that it is a naturally occurring virus.

by Thomas Knapp - On April 25, 2020, US president Donald Trump and Russian president Vladimir Putin issued a joint statement commemorating the 75th anniversary of “Elbe Day” – the day, presaging the end of World War 2 in Europe, when Russian and US troops met near the German towns of Strehla and Torgau. The Wall Street Journal reports that this congenial interaction between the two presidents “stirs concern among” members of Congress and officials at the US Departments of State and Defense. What’s inherently controversial about the Trump/Putin statement that wasn’t controversial about the similar 65th anniversary message from Barack Obama and Dmitry Medvedev? The supposed concern appears to have little, if anything, to do with actual foreign policy matters.

The president must recognize that his `maximum pressure` campaign is all but handing ordinary Iranians a death warrant.
Recent tensions in the Persian Gulf cannot cover the fact that Iran is facing catastrophe due to coronavirus and its impact on the Iranian economy and people, only made worse by continuing U.S. sanctions. In fact those tensions could be rising from the desperation Iran finds itself in as it struggles with Washington’s “maximum pressure campaign” amid mounting death tolls, dwindling supplies, a restive population, and crashing oil prices. This is the moment President Donald Trump could step up—off Twitter and into a more diplomatic role—to find peace at a time of a global health crisis, through relaxing the sanctions, not enforcing more.

In an effort to try to claim the coronavirus is no more dangerous than the regular flu — even though covid-19 has already killed more Americans in the last 17 days than what the regular flu killed in an entire year — pandemic denialists are claiming the case fatality rate for the coronavirus is very similar to that of the flu. They achieve this false result by comparing the CDC’s numbers for flu fatalities to the estimates of the coronavirus case fatality rate based on projecting the results of questionable antibody tests to the population at large. Dear President Trump, In order to save America from the coronavirus, you must ignore the dangerously bad disinformation being pushed by your own supporters who are ignorant about infectious disease. You may or may not be aware, but because of a fundamental lack of scientific and medical knowledge across the conservative media and independent media, the vast majority of Trump supporters right now believe four things which are demonstrably false: Belief #1) The coronavirus is a “hoax” and isn’t even killing people. The entire thing, they claim, is a grand media conspiracy involving 100+ countries and hundreds of thousands of doctors, nurses and coroners who are all faking the deaths. Belief #2) Because the coronavirus is a “hoax,” lockdowns don’t work and were never necessary. All lockdowns should end immediately, they say.

By Alan Macleod - Once again it appears that big business will get bailed out while the American people get sold out. Hospitals overflowing with sick and dying patients. Overworked staff risking their lives wearing garbage bags as makeshift protective equipment against an invisible but deadly virus. Refrigerated containers left outside medical facilities, filling with the dead. Mass graves being dug in the city. It is like something out of a horror movie. But it is very real and is happening right now in America. “We are doing the best we can,” Derrick Smith, a certified registered nurse anesthetist in New York City told MintPress last week, “but people are dying left and right, no exaggeration.” “I’ve never imagined or seen our healthcare system take such a beating before,” he said. “This is something that none of us have ever really seen.”

John Quincy Adams - In the Soviet Union there was an expression “The Organs of State Security” or “Organs” for short. Their supposed power in the USSR was one of the things that separated them from what we used to call “the free world”. Not so much any more – the American Organs came very close to getting rid of the so-called Most Powerful Man in The World. They made only one mistake; they probably won’t next time. The impeachment of US President Donald Trump is over, or at least this iteration is. This was not a normal impeachment, it was an attempt by the Deep State, the Organs of State Security, the Blob, the Borg – later we will learn what its members call it – to remove a president of the United States. After some false starts, it succeeded at every step except the very last one. But, as they say, practice makes perfect and the Organs have learned from their mistake.

For weeks I’ve been careful to separate the threat of the disease, COVID-19, from the political response. I’ve felt strongly that one can respect the virus while at the same time be wary of the political response and the panic engineered over it. But that’s come to an end. It’s clear that the plan from the beginning was to allow this virus to run wild in high profile places like New York and Italy to create fear. It is also clear that people like Dr. Anthony Fauci were activated to ensure the worst possible response to the crisis would be implemented in the U.S.

The COVID-19 medical and economic crisis remains mostly unaddressed by both the Republican and Democratic parties. They have only passed one piece of legislation that significantly helps workers: supplementing existing state unemployment benefits by $600 per week. Those additional payments expire in four months. Until then many people who are out of work will receive about $1000 a week. If the past is precedent, Congress is likely to renew the law. Aside from expanded unemployment checks, the government has been useless. Here are the essential basic things Congress and President Trump must do in order to avoid economic collapse, mass starvation, an epidemic of violent crime reminiscent of “A Clockwork Orange” and political unrest up to and including revolution. They must do it now.

The scandal that already smashed into smithereens the political career of one of the long-term leaders of US Democratic Party Joseph Biden, who expressed his intention to run for the presidency, develops in two directions independent from each other. The first and the most sensitive thing for the politician are the charges of unseemly behaviour and sexist escapades that were made public by several women at the same time. The economy has come to a screeching halt, people are scared and confused, theories are flinging left and right, and everyone wants to know – why are we being forced to shut down our businesses and stay in our homes, and why is President Trump going along with this while shady characters stand at his side? There is a lot of confusion because nefarious characters are propagating fear tactics, embellished stories, and doom and gloom scenarios, while those with hope want to believe this is all a cover story to take down these nefarious characters. We call on Congress to strongly oppose this latest attack by the Trump administration on Venezuela. With the election of Hugo Chavez in 1999 Venezuela began to take an independent course. Since this time, the United States has acted to undermine and to overthrow the Bolivarian government with the use of coups and sanctions, and now with a dubious indictment of the democratically elected President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro Moros. By ALAN MACLEOD - No matter how much Fox News tries to spin it, President Trump’s handling of the COVID–19 pandemic has been little short of disastrous. For weeks, he wrote the virus off as a liberal “hoax” designed to force him out of the White House. Rather than providing leadership at the top, his main concern appears to be shifting American anger towards China, insisting on calling the pandemic the “China virus” and demanding Beijing be held to account for their supposed mishandling of the coronavirus. He also appears to be actively blocking New York State’s attempts to procure thousands of lifesaving ventilators. “I have a feeling that a lot of the numbers that are being said in some areas are just bigger than they’re going to be,” he told Sean Hannity on Thursday, adding that, in the midst of a seemingly exponential rise in cases, that he wants to “start opening up certain parts of the country” again, because the cure can’t be worse than the disease.

Rikers Island itself is on the verge of near collapse, over 300 inmates and staff have tested positive and human rights campaigners warn conditions in the notorious prison are dire. The plans had been drawn up by former New York Mayor Micheal Bloomberg during his time in office. The article might have appeared alarmist at the time, considering that the city had only one confirmed coronavirus case and patient zero was self-isolating in her Manhattan home. But one month later, things are bad. Really bad. City authorities have confirmed 41,771 cases of the novel coronavirus as of March 31, with nearly 1,100 deaths.

By Alan Macleod - Things got so bad that some voters claimed that if a similar situation occurred in states such as Iran, the US government would intervene to “restore democracy.” Chaos and gridlock again reigned across much of America as fourteen states chose their candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination yesterday on Super Tuesday. Many voters were forced to wait in line for up to six hours as understaffed and poorly equipped polling stations were inundated with voters, particularly in Texas and California, the two largest and most influential Super Tuesday states. In California, electronic voting systems were unable to connect and experienced severe problems, something election integrity activists had warned was bound to happen. The law dictates that all those in line by closing time must be allowed to cast a ballot. But the technical difficulties meant that many stood in line through the evening for their right to choose.

That was when WikiLeaks, ostensibly at least, served his purposes by releasing hacked DNC emails that were rather unflattering to his opponent, Hillary Clinton. The MAGA crew must’ve agreed with him regarding the Julian Assange-headed web publication at the time: Trump carried all four battleground states, which propelled him into the White House. DAVID SWANSON - Indigenous people in Canada are giving the world a demonstration of the power of nonviolent action. The justness of their cause — defending the land from those who would destroy it for short term profit and the elimination of a habitable climate on earth — combined with their courage and the absence on their part of cruelty or hatred, has the potential to create a much larger movement, which is of course the key to success. This is a demonstration of nothing less than a superior alternative to war, not just because the war weapons of the militarized Canadian police may be defeated by the resistance of the people who have never been conquered or surrendered, but also because the Canadian government could accomplish its aims in the wider world better by following a similar path, by abandoning the use of war for supposedly humanitarian ends and making use of humanitarian means instead.

A year ago I interviewed Yonatan Stern in a kosher pizzeria in Monticello, Catskills, New York. Yonatan is the man behind Cherev Gidon, an ‘Israeli Tactical Training Academy.’ Yonatan was a perfect subject to interview: his views may be radical but they are based upon a sharp, coherent and consistent rationale. He was open in expressing his thoughts, which included some outrageous statements but which all left no doubt that he both meant what he said and said what he meant. I’ve observed that in America 2020, after half a century of the tyranny of correctness, very few Americans are brave enough to celebrate their constitutionally protected liberty to think and express themselves freely and authentically.

Democratic presidential candidates spent the weekend making last-minute pitches to voters at rallies across Iowa. Meanwhile, the Democratic National Committee is facing criticism for overhauling its rules, opening the door for billionaire former New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg, who is running a self-funded campaign, to take part in the next debate. This comes as fear is growing among some Democrats that Bernie Sanders might win the nomination.

Schiff’s Unprecedented Abuse of Power Proves the Ongoing NWO Conspiracy to Collapse the American Republic and Subjugate the U.S. Citizenry to the Globalist Cabal. Really, how does a thoroughly corrupt California Congressman rise to the level of House Intel Chairman, who then goes on a crime spree — IN BROAD DAYLIGHT — since the very day the Democrats took over the House, who then leads a transparently fraudulent Impeachment hoax that is on the verge of seeing a Senate trial?! There are several checks and balances in the American governmental process that were supposed to prevent this dangerous type of flagrant abuse and misuse of power.
